Tata Communications has announced a partnership with Palo Alto Networks to develop integrated and managed security services.

The collaboration will focus on security consolidation for global networks, cloud, and IoT security, integrated cybersecurity and connectivity, threat intelligence, incident response, and zero-trust implementation.

“It’s critical for businesses to adopt a platform-centric approach to cybersecurity as attack surfaces expand and threats become more complex,” said Vaibhav Dutta, AVP, and global head for cybersecurity products & services for Tata Communications. “Our strategic collaboration with Palo Alto Networks stitches together all the essential solutions and tools into a single cloud and cybersecurity fabric — simplifying and streamlining enterprise security management.”

Partnership to go beyond existing contract

Palo Alto Networks said it plans to expand its existing reselling contract with Tata Communications and work on other partnership avenues. Tata has been using Palo Alto’s advanced cloud security platform, Prisma Access, which includes next-generation firewall capabilities, within its cloud-delivered security solutions including network security, cloud security, and Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) services.

“Traditionally, our partnership with Tata Comm. was limited to just reselling the firewall,” said Michelle Saw, vice president of GTM and Ecosystems for JAPAC at Palo Alto Networks. “But definitely our partnership has evolved and elevated to the next level over the last two years, becoming more of a strategic partnership rather than a very transactional contract in the past.”

The new partnership includes integrating Palo Alto Networks’ Precision AI-powered platform — including proprietary SIEM, XDR, and SOAR capabilities — with Tata Communication’s cloud-delivered solutions.

While Palo Alto Networks benefits from an expanded market reach, Tata Communications will also pack, powered by the partnership, a dedicated managed security service offering that will provide lifecycle management of Palo Alto Networks’ solutions.

Partnership to counter AI with AI

One of the major focus areas of the partnership is to address the AI-induced attack surface, according to Dutta. “In the security market today, AI is becoming the most disruptive technology since cloud,” he said. “Alongside the transformation, there is an adversarial threat evolving with the technology. They are using sophisticated AI to move faster at a larger scale and across a new scope.”

“So together with this partnership, we are ready to help our customers secure the AI-first future, countering AI with AI,” he added. To that end, Palo Alto Network’s Precision AI will now power many of Tata Communications’ solutions, integrating its predictive analytics capabilities within the latter’s homegrown offerings.

Additionally, the partnership is designed to achieve quick threat detection and isolation with the help of an improved and integrated network of sensors. The companies said the partnership will also help ease deployment and operation while offering cost savings.
