RSA Conference 2025, focused on addressing evolving threats. Naturally, a major theme was the role of artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential to enhance security defenses through AI-driven security agents and threat detection. The other side of the coin is the risk AI poses by bad actors leveraging AI for sophisticated attacks, including AI-enhanced phishing and the acceleration of quantum computing development.
The annual bellwether event also focused on the growing sophistication of cyberattacks aimed at critical infrastructure. This included discussions around state-sponsored cyber espionage, particularly from China and Russia, and the weaponization of cyberattacks.
Identity security was also a central theme, with RSA unveiling new Identity Security Posture Management capabilities. RSA’s new offering and competitors are designed to address the need for robust identity management solutions to combat advanced identity attacks, including those exploiting help desks and leveraging deepfakes, was frequently cited.
The challenges of regulating AI were a point of emphasis ast RSAC 2025. While some experts advocated for government regulation to ensure AI system trustworthiness, others expressed concern that excessive regulation could hinder innovation and put defenders at a disadvantage.
Quantum computing’s threat to encryption remains a point of concern in security circles. However, rather than viewing quantum computing as a distant threat quantum is seen as a more imminent danger, requiring quantum-resistant cryptographic standards. The conference also highlighted the importance of collaboration and knowledge sharing.Check out coverage from CSO Online, CIO, Computerworld, Network World, and Infoworld below..
