{"id":5797,"date":"2025-11-14T13:01:44","date_gmt":"2025-11-14T13:01:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cybersecurityinfocus.com\/?p=5797"},"modified":"2025-11-14T13:01:44","modified_gmt":"2025-11-14T13:01:44","slug":"anthropics-ai-used-in-automated-attacks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cybersecurityinfocus.com\/?p=5797","title":{"rendered":"Anthropic\u2019s AI used in automated attacks"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div class=\"grid grid--cols-10@md grid--cols-8@lg article-column\">\n<div class=\"col-12 col-10@md col-6@lg col-start-3@lg\">\n<div class=\"article-column__content\">\n<div class=\"container\"><\/div>\n<p>Anthropic reported that a group of what it believes to be Chinese hackers carried out a series of attacks against foreign governments and large corporations in September.<\/p>\n<p>What makes the campaign stand out from the crowd is that the hackers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anthropic.com\/news\/disrupting-AI-espionage\">automated the attacks using Claude Code<\/a>, a popular AI tool from Anthropic.<\/p>\n<p>The attacks were \u201cliterally with the click of a button,\u201d Anthropic\u2019s head of threat intelligence, Jacob Klein, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/tech\/ai\/china-hackers-ai-cyberattacks-anthropic-41d7ce76\">told The Wall Street Journal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As soon as Anthropic\u2019s security department realized what was going on, the hackers\u2019 accounts were blocked, putting an end to the attacks.<\/p>\n<p>Anthropic has posted <a href=\"https:\/\/assets.anthropic.com\/m\/ec212e6566a0d47\/original\/Disrupting-the-first-reported-AI-orchestrated-cyber-espionage-campaign.pdf\">a detailed report<\/a> on the incident on its website.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Anthropic reported that a group of what it believes to be Chinese hackers carried out a series of attacks against foreign governments and large corporations in September.
